Automakers like Mercedes-Benz and Volvo are also now joining the electric vehicle race and are engaged in making electric trucks. This includes Europe’s Futuricum, a commercial vehicle brand that has partnered with DPD Switzerland and Continental Tires to develop and manufacture electric trucks.
In such a situation, now this team recently created a Guinness World Record for the longest distance covered by an electric truck without recharging. For the record, the partners used an e-truck that had been carrying goods for the past 6 months.
This e-truck was first modified by Volvo to make it an electric truck. Which covered a distance of 1,099 km without stopping on a single charge.
Completed 392 laps in 23 hours
The electric vehicle was driven on a 2.8-kilometre-long, oval test track at Continental’s in-house test center, Contidrome. Two drivers drove the e-truck and completed 392 laps in 23 hours. The truck had an average speed of 50 km/h (31 mph). This e-truck can cover a distance of about 300 kms every day.
The electric truck has a battery capacity of 680 kWh/h.
Mark Frank, Director of Strategy and Innovation, DPD Switzerland, said that the company is taking the decision to invest in electric mobility at an early stage. Adrian Meliger, CEO of Design Work Products AG, which works on the Futuricum brand, said that this electric truck has a battery capacity of 680 kWh, which is Europe’s largest truck battery. A truck weighing 19 tons produces more than 680 hp of power.
