In Karnataka’s Udupi, a college teacher has been suspended for comparing a Muslim student with a terrorist. According to reports, the teacher asked the student his name. When the student told the name, the teacher said – Oh! You are like Kasab

The student hit back at the teacher’s comment, which is going viral on social media. The incident took place on Friday at Manipal Institute of Technology. During this, the rest of the students were shown sitting silently.

Student said- 26/11 is not a joke
The student said on the teacher’s comment, ’26/11 is not something to joke about. Being a Muslim in this country and hearing such things everyday is not a joke. You can’t make fun of my religion, that too in such a demeaning manner. This is not a joke.

The student asked the teacher that if you cannot call your son a terrorist, then how can you call me?

The teacher said to the student – you are like my son
When the student got angry, the teacher told him to handle the matter, ‘You are like my son.’ On this the student asked would you talk to your son like this? Will you also call him by the name of such a terrorist?

The teacher said no on this. So the student further said – If you cannot call your son a terrorist, then how can you call me? That too in front of so many people? You are a professional, a teacher. On saying sorry to the teacher, the student said – your sorry will neither change your thinking nor your behavior here.

Institute said- teacher suspended till the investigation is completed
After this video went viral, the institute suspended the teacher and started an investigation into the matter. Student counseling was also done. The institute made a statement saying that we do not condone such behaviour. This is the only case in this institute which we will deal with as per our policy.
