Studies have shown that eating at night does not actually increase weight if you stay within your body’s daily calorie requirements. Many people get out of boredom at night or eat due to feelings like stress or anxiety, and thus innocent snacking at night can turn into behavior like binge. It is like a bank account. You can only pound on calories per day, and it is entirely up to a person when and how they spend it. This is why personality and behavioral factors are so important. Therefore, if you are going to eat at night, it is fine, but eat less food during the day.
Technically, the time of day you eat does not affect how your body feeds. What really matters is your total calorie intake and how much exercise you do during the day. However, people who eat late at night choose high-calorie foods. If you are one of these people, then avoid food after dinner which can help you in increasing weight or promoting weight loss. For example, if you miss a healthy meal at 6 pm, there is no reason why you should eat it at 9 pm.
Thus, it is best to eat at least two to three hours before going to sleep or eat light calorie foods that are easily digestible. Conventional wisdom today is that the reason for weight gain is to eat more calories than you burn. Portion control is your best bet in the healthiest choices.
