The picture is of the 2004 Test in Multan. When Sehwag hit triple century. There was a 336-run partnership between Sachin and Sehwag.
Former cricketer Virender Sehwag shared an interesting incident with his opening partner Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin once told Sehwag that he will kill you with the bat.
Virender Sehwag, who was part of the winning team of the 2007 T20 World Cup, discussed issues like his batting style, opening partnership with Sachin in a news channel program.
Virender Sehwag played his last international match in 2013. Then he was part of the Test team against Australia. Sehwag has scored 8,586 runs in 104 Tests, 8,273 runs in 251 ODIs and 394 runs in 19 T20 matches.
Sachin-Sehwag scored 3,919 runs as openers in ODIs
Sachin and Sehwag opened the ODIs during the 2003 World Cup. The pair scored 3,919 runs in 93 matches. 12 times century and 18 times partnership of more than 50 runs.
Now read Sehwag’s funny story with Sachin…
Sehwag said, “We were playing a Test match in Australia in 2003. I hit Simon Katich for a few sixes and reached 195. I tried to hit him for another six to reach 200, but I got out. Went. After that we went to Pakistan. I hit 6-7 sixes to reach 100 runs in Multan. After that Sachin Tendulkar came to bat. Then Sachin said that now if you hit a six, I will hit you with the bat.
I asked Sachin why so? Sachin told me that we lost the Test in Australia because you were hitting sixes. After that I didn’t hit a single six from 120 to 295. After reaching 295, I told Sachin that now I will complete 300 runs by hitting sixes. Then Sachin told me are you mad? No one has scored a triple century for India till date. I told Sachin that no one has scored even 295 runs.
After that I went ahead and hit Saqlain Mushtaq for six to complete 300 runs. After that Sachin was happier than me.”
Veeru told interesting maths of his batting
Sehwag said, “I used to play tennis ball cricket. There I used to try to score as many runs as possible from the boundary. I used to have the same mindset in international cricket. I used to calculate how many boundaries I would need to score 100 runs. If I am playing for 90 runs, then it will take 10 balls to score a century by taking one run. The opposition will then also have 10 balls to stop me. That’s why I used to hit boundaries and the opposition had me. It used to take only 2 balls to stop a century. The risk percentage then came down from 100 to 20.
Veeru became the first Indian to score a triple century, know interesting facts
