UPSC Mains Essay: UPSC has released the result of prelims exam. Now the candidates who have passed this exam will be given a chance to appear in the Mains exam. This year’s Mains exam will be conducted on 8 January. Let us tell you, two essays have to be written in UPSC Mains exam. These essays should be 1000-1200 words long.

The paper is divided into 2 sections. One subject can be selected from a choice of four subjects in each section. The essay paper is for a total of 250 marks, with an essay for 125 marks. Read good stories.

The stories, stories and real-life stories you see in newspapers and books that can be used in the essay below. Read about them. They can be used in the introduction or as an example in your essay.

How to start writing essay

A good introduction

A good way to start your essay is to have a touch of humanity and warmth in your introduction. After reading it, you should immediately understand on which subject the entire essay has been written. In the beginning you can do something like this.

→ a fictitious event or story (by introducing a character);

→ by telling a real-life anecdote

→ a quote

Use subtitles

With a subheading you can make your essay a bit creative. ‘Advantages of nuclear energy’, like we can use ‘nuclear energy: prom or peril’.

Connection between two paragraphs

The candidate must maintain a temperament throughout the essay. While writing talk from one subject to another, the rhythm of the essay should not be disturbed. Therefore the first paragraph should be interlinking with the second paragraph.

Material development

In the body of the essay, each paragraph should contain an argument or an idea and there should be an argument to back that argument. You can authenticate this through a real-life example, a statistic, an authentic committee or organizational report etc.

The more important is the beginning of the essay, the more important is the conclusion of the essay. Therefore, while writing the conclusion one should read the essay thoroughly.
