The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police (UP Police) has today raided many of its bases, including the office of PFI located in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi. The UP Police has taken this action after the information received during interrogation of PFI student wing CFI General Secretary Rauf Sharif. A few days ago, UP STF took Rauf Sharif on production warrant. He was lodged in Kochi jail.
UP STF is questioning him in the case of UAPA registered in Mathura. Four members of the CFI were arrested in Mathura while going there at the time of the Hathras gang-rape case, who during interrogation had learned that they had a conspiracy to spread a riot in Hathras. During interrogation, its connection came from Rauf Sharif. After this, UP STF has brought Rauf up on production warrant to inquire about spreading riots and funding in Hathras.
Rauf Sharif was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) while trying to escape from India. ED has also filed a charge sheet against Rauf Sharif a few days ago. According to STF sources, Rauf is also accused of conspiracy and funding of violence during the CAA / NRC Protest in Uttar Pradesh.
