But due to the relaxation in restrictions from the government, once again the traffic has increased. As a result, FASTag toll collection in June grew by 21% to Rs 2,576.28 crore.
Toll transaction also increased
According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the collection figure in June is less than Rs 2,776.90 crore in April and Rs 3086.32 crore in March. Talking about FASTag toll transactions in June, it increased to 15.786 crores, which was 11.65 crores in May. It was 16.433 crores in April and 19.321 crores in March.
FASTag accounts for 95% of the total toll collection
The authority has made FASTag mandatory for 100% e-tolling in February this year. As a result, FASTag accounted for 95% of the total toll collection in June. With the reduction of restrictions, the domestic economy is getting back on track. Truck movement increased to 75% in June from 65% in May.
16 crore vehicles paid toll tax in June
In June, the number of toll paying vehicles on the National Highway has crossed 16 crore. According to rating agency Crisil, traffic on the National Highway was affected in April and May after the second wave of Corona. In May, the number of toll paying vehicles had come down to 12 crore.
