Rahi Sarnobat won two medals at the World Shooting Championships.
A good news has come for Indian shooting before the Olympics. Rahi Sarnobat won India’s first gold medal in women’s 25m sports pistol at the ongoing Shooting World Cup in Croatia. Rahi is expected to win a medal in the Olympics. However, Manu Bhaker finished seventh. This is also Rahi’s second medal in the World Cup. Earlier, she won the bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Women’s Team event.
Rahi scored 39 points in the 25m sports final though she fell one point short of breaking the world record. At the same time, she was eight points ahead of the silver medal winning shooter.
So far, India is at number six in the tournament by winning one gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Russia topped with 10 medals including 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze.
Rahi finished second and Manu Bhaker third in the qualifying round
In the qualifying round of 25m Sports Pistol, Rahi finished second with 591 points and Manu finished third with 588 points. However, Manu could not do better in the final.
Rajput and Tomar could not win in 50m rifle 3 position
On Sunday, medal hopeful shooter Sanjeev Rajput and world number one Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar could not win the medal in the 50m rifle three position in Tokyo. Although Tomar managed to make the final, he finished sixth in the final. Earlier in March, he won the gold medal in the Shooting World Cup held in Delhi.
In the final of the mixed event, Manu and Saurabh were defeated by Russian pair Vitalina Batsarshkina and Artem Chernosov.

Earlier, India had won bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol team event. The Indian team defeated Hungary 16-12. The 10m air team consisted of Manu Bhaker, Yashaswini Deswal and Rahi Sarnobat. All three shooters qualified for the finals by finishing third with a score of 573.
Saurabh won bronze in singles
Star Indian shooter Saurabh Chaudhary on Thursday won the nation a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol men’s event. This was India’s first medal in this tournament. The 19-year-old Saurabh had scored 581 in the qualifying round and 220 in the final.
This is the last tournament before the Olympics
