The Trinamool Congress has launched the slogan of ‘Bengal ko apni beti’, playing the emotional card before the 2021 assembly elections in Bengal. In Bengali language it has been called “Bangla nijer meykei chae”. It is believed that through this TMC will intensify the debate of local versus local in the elections.
Hoardings with photographs of Mamta Banerjee with such slogans are seen all over Kolkata. The Trinamool Congress officially inaugurated this slogan at its headquarters in Kolkata. Trinamool Congress general secretary Partha Chatterjee said that the people of Bengal want their daughter, who has been with them as chief minister for the last several years. We do not want to bring any external leader in Bengal. The Trinamool Congress is fighting a bitter political war with the BJP.
TMC calls BJP leaders engaged in campaigning in Bengal as outsiders. He says that these leaders have come to visit Bengal only during the election season. Before the Assembly elections in Bengal, the party’s compass appears to be “Bohiragato”, targeting the outsiders and focusing on the women’s vote bank. Mamta Banerjee’s popularity among women is quite deep. Mamta Banerjee tries to connect directly with the women in every election rally and asks them to compete directly with the goons.
Certainly, the Trinamool Congress is trying to cash in on the popularity of Mamata Banerjee, the biggest face of the party. If the BJP does not declare any contender for the post of Chief Minister in Bengal, then the issue of not having a leader in front of Mamta Banerjee will not be missed by the TMC.
