India’s 2007 T20 World Cup winner Joginder Sharma on Friday retired from all formats of international and domestic cricket. In a letter to the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), cricketer-turned-police officer Joginder thanked the board, Haryana Cricket Association, Chennai Super Kings and the Haryana government. Joginder shared the photo of the letter on Instagram. Joginder wrote – Today I announce my retirement from all formats of International and Domestic cricket.
Didn’t get a chance in the team after 2007
Joginder Sharma, who bowled the last over of the T20 World Cup title match, became the hero of the country in just 4 balls. It is a matter of regret that Joginder never got a chance to play any international match after that final match. Although he continued to play domestic cricket.
Joginder Sharma joined Haryana Police in October 2007. At present, he is the Superintendent of Police based in Pehowa, Kurukshetra district of Haryana.
Last match played in 2017
Joginder last played a domestic match in 2017. He played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Haryana against Punjab. In this he bowled 7 overs. After this Joginder did not play a single match.

Joginder also wrote in the letter that I am happy that I got a chance to play cricket from India. Going forward, I will look for new opportunities in other business. I will continue to participate in this game in other ways. I believe this is my next step as a cricketer. I am moving towards the new chapter of life.
