The players’ auction for the first season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be held in Mumbai on February 13. 5 teams of the league will bid. Meanwhile, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will also continue in South Africa from February 10 to 26. The first season of WPL can start from 4th March.

Players will be sold at Jio World Convention Center
There will be a one-day mega auction at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai. Recently there were reports that BCCI is not getting hotels for auction. Due to the wedding season, most of the hotels in Mumbai and Delhi were booked. Now BCCI has got a hotel.

Franchisee owners fixed the date
The date of February 13 was fixed after talking to the franchise owners. Because the franchise management is currently busy with UAE’s International League T20 and South Africa’s SA20 League. In such a situation, he needed enough time for WPL. The finals of both the leagues will be done by 12th, so 13th was the best date.

Each team will get Rs 12 crore
A WPL team will get a purse of Rs 12 crore for buying a player in the auction. Every year there will be an increase of Rs 1.5 crore in the purse. This amount is very less compared to the men’s IPL. In Men’s IPL, a team has a purse of Rs 95 crores.

The team that wins the tournament will be given Rs 6 crore, the runner-up Rs 3 crore and the third-placed team Rs 1 crore.

These 5 cities got teams
5 teams of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) have also been auctioned. The highest bid is for the Ahmedabad franchise. In lieu of this franchise, Adani Group will give Rs 1,289 crore to the board. Apart from Ahmedabad, the franchises of Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Lucknow have been auctioned. That is, these five teams will participate in the Women’s Premier League.

Under-19 players will also be bid
The BCCI has not yet said anything on how many players can be included in a team. But, even if there are 15 to 18 players in a team, even then 5 teams will buy around 75 to 90 players. In such a situation, along with the top cricketers from all over the world, the players who won the Under-19 World Cup for India can also get big bids.

There will be 5 foreigners in a WPL team
The first season of WPL can be started from 4th March. It is being considered to hold all the matches at Brabourne and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. There will be a total of 22 matches between the 5 teams of the tournament. At the same time, maximum 5 foreign players can play in an IPL team. Provided that the fifth player is from an Associate country.

If the associate country’s player is not included, only 4 foreign players will be allowed to play in the team. Apart from these, it will be necessary to have 7 Indian players in the team.
