Born in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, Rajendra Singh took inspiration for social service and village upliftment from his school’s English teacher and a member of the Gandhi Peace Foundation. From opening libraries in different villages of the country, to getting rid of alcoholism and adult education, many works were done.

One of his most important achievements was the revival of the Arvari River in Rajasthan. The Arvari river, which had been lying dry for decades, was revived through the construction of johads (small dams) and other water conservation structures such as water tanks, ponds, small canals, etc., by the NGO ‘Tarun Bharat Sangh’ (TBS) run by him. it was done. The river, which is now a perennial source of water, has transformed the lives of the people of the region, who no longer have to migrate in search of water.

For this work, he was awarded the ‘Nobel Prize in the field of water conservation’ and many other awards including the prestigious Stockholm Water Prize and Magsaysay Award. His life is a beacon of hope for young professionals and students interested in environmental protection and sustainable development.
