Reliance-Tata Trust in Hurun India’s Most Valuable 500 Companies list.
Women power has once again proved itself in the country. India’s largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has bagged the first position among the top 10 women employers in Hurun India’s list of the country’s Most Valuable 500 companies. The company has about 35% i.e. 2.1 lakh women employees. 410 out of 500 companies included in the list have given representation to women on their boards.
These companies have given 3.9 lakh new jobs in the last one year. Of these, 11.6 lakh women are already working. IT major Infosys employs 1,24,498 women. 88,946 women are employed in Wipro and 62,780 in HCL Technologies. These companies employ 40%, 36%, and 28% women employees, respectively. The number of women in Reliance is 62,560.
Motherson Sumi Systems, Tech Mahindra, ICICI Bank, HDFC and Page Industries are the five other companies in the list. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd has emerged as the country’s most valuable listed company with a valuation of Rs 17.25 lakh crore. Tata Consultancy Services ie TCS is the country’s second and HDFC Bank India’s third most valuable listed company.
Adani Total Gas and Adani Enterprises are two companies of Gautam Adani in this list. There are 210 companies in the list which are being run by professional CEOs. The software and service sector has suffered a total loss of six lakh crore rupees as compared to last year. According to the list, good growth has been seen in companies in the energy, retail business, hotel, restaurant and related sectors and consumer goods sectors.
Talking about government companies, State Bank of India has topped the ranking with the highest growth of 14%. Along with this, valuations of startups like Policy Bazaar, Paytm, Zomato and Nykaa have also come down drastically. Vaccine maker Serum Institute of India is the country’s most valuable unlisted company in the list with a market cap of Rs 2.19 lakh crore.
664 women join the board of directors, highest in Apollo 6
Women hold 16% of the board of directors positions in the 500 most valuable companies. In these companies, 664 women have been included as directors. Apollo Hospital Enterprises has appointed the maximum number of women directors at six, while Godrej Consumers, Piramal and India Cements have appointed five women directors respectively.
