Tamil Nadu Coronavirus Update: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said on Tuesday that Rs 7,167.97 crore has been spent so far in dealing with the corona virus infection. At the same time, 5,697 new cases of infection have been reported in the state and 68 more people have died. Panneerselvam told the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly that the economy was affected by Kovid-19 but there has not been agreement to implement welfare schemes. He said, "Amma's government does not wish to reduce the expenditure on welfare of the people."

He said that all the additional expenditure to deal with Kovid-19 has been included in the supplementary budget estimation. He said that the government has spent Rs 7,167.97 crore to control the corona virus epidemic. He was answering a question related to the epidemic control of Leader of the Opposition MK Stalin.

There have been 5,697 new cases of infection in Tamil Nadu, after which the number of total infections has increased to 5,14,208. At the same time the number of dead increased to 8,502 after 68 more deaths.
