Former Sri Lankan Test captain Suranga Lakmal will retire after the Test series against India. The Sri Lanka Cricket Board issued a statement and informed about this. Lakmal has also signed a 2-year deal with County League’s Derbyshire after announcing his retirement. Lakmal made his international debut in 2009 with an ODI match against India in Nagpur. A year later, he made his Test debut against the West Indies.

First Test from 4th March
The Sri Lankan team is to visit India in the last week of February. The team has to play a series of 3 T20 matches with India first. After that a series of 2 test matches is also to be played. The first T20 match is to be played on 24 February in Lucknow. While the second T20 match is to be played on 26 February and the third T20 match on 27 February in Dharamsala. Whereas the first Test match will be played in Mohali from March 4 to 8. At the same time, the second Test will be played in Bangalore from March 12 to 16.

Lakmal has taken 168 wickets in Tests at an average of 36.2
Lakmal has taken 168 wickets at an average of 36.2 in 119 innings of 68 Test matches for Sri Lanka. In the longest format of cricket, he has been involved in the club for 7 wickets and 4 times in 5 wickets. In 86 ODIs, he took 109 wickets at an average of 32.4, while he took 8 wickets in 11 T20 matches.
