Pollution in Yamuna river: Regarding pollution in Yamuna river Supreme court (Supreme Court) has taken suo moto cognizance. The SC has appointed senior advocate Meenakshi Arora as amix curie (judicial) in this regard. Amicus curiae means that the judge practically does not represent any party, but helps the court. On the petition of the Delhi Jal Board, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Government of Haryana and the Central Pollution Control Board.

Delhi Jal Board alleges that there is dirty water coming from Haryana, there is more amount of ammonia in it, which is a risk of spreading cancer. Due to this, water is not being supplied to the whole of Delhi. The Supreme Court said that they are taking suo motu cognizance of pollution in the entire Yamuna river, the next hearing of the case will be on Tuesday.
