Cummins is in Australia to look after his ailing mother. Jhye Richardson has a hamstring injury.
Australia’s Test captain Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the last Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. At the same time, Jhye Richardson, who joined the team for the ODI series to be held after the Test, has also been ruled out of the team due to injury.
Actually Cummins’s mother’s health is bad. Because of this, he returned to Australia only after the Delhi Test. Though he was supposed to return before the third Test, he has now decided to stay back in Australia to be with his family. The team’s vice-captain Steve Smith will lead the team in the Ahmedabad Test. Pat Cummins will return to the team in the ODI series starting on 17 March.
Australia is currently trailing 2-1 in the Test series against India. With the win in Indore, the Kangaroo team has made a comeback in the four-match series. The last match of the series will be played from March 9 to 13 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The team has suffered another setback in the middle of the Test series. Australia fast bowler Jhye Richardson has been ruled out of the three ODI series against India starting March 17. He has suffered a hamstring injury. Medium fast bowler Nathan Ellis has been included in the team in place of 26-year-old Richardson. Ellis has played 3 ODIs for Australia.
Due to injury, there is doubt on Richardson playing IPL. Mumbai Indians bought him for Rs 1.5 crore.
Australia won under Smith’s captaincy
Australia defeated India by 9 wickets in the Indore Test. India had given a target of 76 runs to Australia, which Australia chased by losing 1 wicket. Steve Smith captained the team in the absence of Pat Cummins. Australia won the Test in India for the second time after 2004. Both the Test teams have won under the captaincy of Steve Smith.

Marsh and Maxwell return to ODI squad
Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh have returned to the Australian team after a long time. Maxwell was injured after the T20 World Cup in November. He had slipped at a birthday party, injuring his leg. At the same time, Marsh was out of the team for a long time due to a left ankle injury. David Warner, who was out in the Test series, will also return in the ODI series.
