Stalin expels 2 DMK members for vandalizing Amma Canteen, orders police action

The two activists have been removed from the party after a video of two DMK workers removing and throwing two flax boards bearing the name and picture of ‘Amma’ from a government canteen in Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai. DMK leader and former Chennai Mayor Ma Subramaniam told reporters that the party has lodged a police complaint against him and both have been arrested. He said that the boards have been put again at the same places in the canteen and both have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Significantly, ‘Amma’ is the popular surname of late Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo Jairam Jayalalithaa and the inexpensive ‘Amma Canteen’ is running the Municipal Body in Tamil Nadu and Chennai Municipal Corporation here. These flex type boards have ‘Amma canteen’ written in Tamil language and information about the dishes served there as well.
