Samajwadi Party President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday that his party supported independent candidate Prakash Bajaj in the Rajya Sabha elections to highlight the mutual agreement between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.

Talking to reporters after paying homage to Acharya Narendra Dev’s birth anniversary, Akhilesh said that socialist-minded people decided to support the independent candidate for the Rajya Sabha so that people would know how the BJP and BSP are getting along. He alleged that BJP can go with anyone for their selfishness and needs to be exposed.

Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government, Akhilesh Yadav questioned the current status of the Gomti River Front for which his party’s government worked. He said that there has been no expansion in the Lucknow Metro project started during his government.

It is worth mentioning that on Tuesday, the Samajwadi Party-backed Independent Prakash Bajaj filled his nomination papers in the Rajya Sabha election, just minutes before the end of nomination time. However, during the investigation a day later, the Election Officer rejected his nomination letter.

On the other hand, the nomination of BSP candidate Ramji Verma, whose supporters were backed by four BSP MLAs, was valid. In this development, seven MLAs of Bahujan Samaj Party claimed to meet Akhilesh Yadav. However, barring one MLA, most refused to meet Akhilesh.

BSP chief Mayawati on Thursday suspended seven MLAs. After this incident, Mayawati said that she can support the Bharatiya Janata Party or any other organization in the upcoming Legislative Council elections to ensure the defeat of the Samajwadi Party.

The SP and the BSP fought together in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but Mayawati also termed her decisions to join hands with the Samajwadi Party as a mistake and said that she should not have withdrawn the 1995 case against Akhilesh Yadav’s father Mulayam Singh Yadav.

After paying floral tributes to Acharya Narendra Dev, Akhilesh Yadav also said that the corona is not yet finished, so there is a need to consider how the economy will return to the track. Is the poor getting treatment in the hospital.

He said that even after the great men were shown the way, the governments did not follow it, which caused serious problems. He said that we pledge to serve society and country every year on the path shown by Acharya Narendra Dev.

He also remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Maharishi Balmiki. He said that Sardar Patel strengthened the country by uniting all the princely states.
