The slight rise in the country’s stock market on Tuesday did not last long. After a short trading session, the Sensex and Nifty started trading in the red from the green mark. At the time of closing the stock market in the evening, the Sensex fell 337 points to close at 57900 while the Nifty fell 111 points to close at 17043.

Earlier this morning, the domestic stock markets opened with slight strength amid a weak trend in the global markets. Sensex and Nifty registered gains in early trade. During this period, the BSE Sensex rose 205.55 points or 0.35 percent to reach 58,443.40 points. The NSE Nifty was up 44 points, or 0.26 per cent, at 17,198.30.
Based on thirty stocks, 20 stocks of Sensex were trading in profit while 10 stocks were in loss. Titan, Bharti Airtel and L&T were among the major gainers. Most Asian markets were trading with losses on Tuesday due to the failure of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank in the US.
