The Kebresel team defeated Colo-Colo 3-1.
Latin America’s Chile saw a surprising goal in top division football. The Argentine goalkeeper of the Cabresal team, Leandro Requena, without any help from his box, brought the ball to the other end and scored the goal. In other words, a kick is scored by the goalkeeper without being passed by anyone.
According to Chilean sports channel TNT Sports, the goal traveled a distance of 101 metres. If verified by Guinness World Records, it will break the record for the longest distance goal in football history. Cabrecel beat Colo-Colo 3–1.
Leandro Requena, 35, joined the club in 2019.
the goalkeeper of the other team was outside the box
The match was going on between Cobresal and Colo-Colo team of Chile. The Cobresal team was already leading 2-0 in the 77th minute. Cabresal’s goalkeeper Leandro Requena thought of playing a long shot from the penalty box itself. During this, the goalkeeper of the Colo-Colo team, Bry Cortes, did not get the inkling of the long range shot. He was outside the penalty box. The ball came and bounced over his head and went into the goal.
At this time the world record of 96.01 meters
The current record is 96.01 metres, set by Tom King in 2021 during a match between Newport County and Cheltenham Town in England’s fourth-tier football league.
Chilean Football Federation will send officials
The player who scored the goal, Requina, said in a Chilean radio show – I asked the club manager, Juan Silva, if the record could become a record. He said of course.
Requina continued – Now we want to see what the distance was actually, the Chilean Football Federation will send officials to see the length of the field. If everything goes according to my predictions, this goal will be more than 100 meters.
