Australian player Steve Smith has equaled compatriot Sir Don Bradman’s record. In the first match of the Test series being played against the West Indies, he scored the 29th century of his Test career. With this, he equaled Bradman’s record of 29 centuries in a Test match. Smith has 8161 runs in 154 innings of 87 Tests at an average of 60. He has also scored 36 half centuries. 239 runs is his best score. He has also scored 12 centuries in ODIs. Smith scored an unbeaten 200 off 311 balls against the West Indies. With this, Australia declared the innings by scoring 598 runs for 4 wickets in the first innings. Smith shared a 251-run partnership for the third wicket with Marnus Labushen. Labushen scored 204 runs in 350 balls. At the same time, West Indies have scored more than 60 runs in the first innings without losing a wicket.
Smith’s 41 centuries in international cricket
Smith has 41 centuries in international cricket. He has equaled Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli has the most centuries among the players currently playing cricket. He has over all 71 centuries in all three formats of international cricket i.e. Test, ODI and T20. This includes 43 in ODIs, 27 in Tests and one century in T20s.
Sachin Tendulkar has the most centuries
If we talk about over all, Sachin Tendulkar has the maximum number of centuries in all the three formats. He has scored 34357 runs in 664 matches at an average of 48.52. His 100 centuries and 164 half-centuries are included.
Smith joins top-5 Australian players
Steve Smith has joined the top-5 in terms of scoring the most centuries for Australia in Test cricket. For Australia, former captain Ricky Ponting has scored the most 41 centuries. While Steve Waugh has 32, Matthew Hayden has 30 while Smith and Bradman have scored 29-29 centuries.
