This mask detects infection from human breath. This mask has been prepared jointly by scientists from Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Scientists say, we had been trying to detect viruses like Ebola and Zika with the help of technology for many years, but last year due to the pandemic, we changed the target to detect corona virus.
Shows result in 90 minutes
According to scientists, when the disposable sensor present in the mask is activated, it detects the corona particles present in the breath. The color of the sensor changes when corona particles are found and the result of the test is revealed in 90 minutes.
Scientists believe that through this technique, a similar implant can be prepared and applied to coats and other clothes so that doctors and health workers can be alerted whenever they come in contact with the virus.
Scientists have used sensors on clothes apart from masks to detect the coronavirus.
This is how the mask works
This mask works on freeze-dried cell free technology. Water is also present in this mask, which starts coming out at the press of a button. Once the water is released, the sensors are activated and the chemical reaction starts. This reaction shows whether there are particles of corona in the human breath or not.
Researcher Dr. Peter Nguen says, we have shrunk the lab into a sensor. Which works as fast as PCR test together with facemask. This test can be done at a cost less than the antigen test. This test can be done at home before reaching the doctor.
Sensors can be installed not only in masks but also in clothes
Dr. Louis Soenxen says, the sensor that detects the virus can be designed in such a way that it can be placed somewhere. So that wherever the virus is, it can be caught. Polyester and other synthetic fibers are better options for applying this sensor to clothing.
