The Delhi government has instructed more than 550 schools of its own and MCD to install sanitary napkin incinerators near their female toilets. According to officials, the Project Sanction Board of the Ministry of Education has approved the purchase and installation of sanitary napkin incinerators in 3,204 toilet blocks of 553 schools of Delhi Government and MCD.
The Directorate of Education has said in a letter sent to the schools, “The head teacher of the school should identify the place to install sanitary napkin incinerator in the toilet block in consultation with the official representative.
The head teacher should make proper arrangements for the power supply at the place of installation of the machine, including the power plug, etc. The expenditure on electricity system will be incurred by the concerned head teacher school welfare committee’s fund or other support amount.
The government has asked schools to make women employees of science lab or teacher of science in charge of sanitary napkin incinerator.
