Indian swimmer Sajan Prakash created history on Saturday. He has become the first swimmer in the country to qualify directly for the Olympics. On the other hand, in the ongoing Archery World Cup Stage-3 in Paris, Abhishek Verma won gold in the compound round. Abhishek defeated world number-5 Chris Skoff of America.
This is Abhishek Verma’s second individual gold in the World Cup.
This is the second individual gold of 32-year-old Abhishek in the World Cup. Earlier, he had targeted the gold medal in the compound round in the 2015 World Cup Stage-3. This year the Tokyo Games are to be held from July 23 to August 8. This Olympics was to be held last year, but was postponed due to Corona.
Saajan also got ‘A’ cut
Sajan Prakash achieved the qualifying feat for the Olympics in the ongoing event in Rome, Italy. He won the 200m butterfly race on Sunday in 1 minute 56.38 seconds. To qualify for the Olympics, a time of 1 minute 56.48 seconds was required. Sajan Prakash won the race at No.1 position and also got the ‘A’ cut. The ‘A’ cut is a standard of qualification in the Olympics.
