Murali Vijay made his India debut in 2008
Indian cricket team opener Murali Vijay has retired from international cricket. He thanked BCCI, IPL team Chennai Super Kings and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association through social media posts. Vijay started playing domestic cricket from Tamil Nadu itself.
He has Test centuries in England and Australia. Also, he has played many important Test innings in South Africa and abroad.

Played 61 Tests for India
Vijay made his Test debut for India in 2008. Since then he has scored 3982 runs in 61 Tests for India at an average of 38.28. In these, he scored 12 centuries and 15 half-centuries. He also represented India in 17 ODIs and 9 T20s. He scored 339 in ODIs and 169 in T20s.
He last played a Test match for India in 2018 against Australia in Perth. In July 2015, he last played ODI and T20 against Zimbabwe. He was also a part of the team that won the Champions Trophy to India in 2013.

Murali Vijay was an integral part of the Indian Test team from 2011 to 2015. While opening for Team India, he played many important innings. Among these, innings of 144 in Brisbane, Australia and 145 at Trent Bridge ground in England were important. He also scored 95 at Lord’s, 99 at Adelaide and 97 at the Kingsmead ground in South Africa. These innings kept him in Indian Tests for a long time.
Scored 2 IPL centuries for Chennai
Murali Vijay is playing IPL since 2008. He joined Chennai Super Kings in the first season. He also scored 2 centuries for CSK in 2010 and 2011 seasons. Chennai became the champion in both the seasons. Overall in 106 IPL matches, he has scored 2619 runs at a strike rate of 121.87. In these, 2 centuries and 13 half-centuries came. Currently he is not a part of any IPL team.
