Prayagraj:

In Allahabad University, once again there was a fierce ruckus between the students and the university administration regarding the fee hike. It is alleged that the agitating students allegedly took Professor Ashish Saxena, the chairman of admission in the FRC department, and Professor Manmohan Krishna, the advisor to the vice-chancellor, hostage. It is alleged that about two dozen students surrounded the professors on the steps of the FRC department and closed the gate of the department. During this, there was a demand from the students that the fee hike should be withdrawn first by postponing the admission process. After stopping the professors, the students said that we have taken them hostage, while the professors present there flatly refused to do so.

The professors said that the students have not held us hostage, they have come only to discuss the matter of fee hike. After receiving information that the professor was being held hostage by the students, the university administration called in a large number of police forces. After this the police took all those students into custody who had taken the professors hostage. During this there was also a fierce clash between the police and the students. Police also used force to control the students.

Let us inform that earlier the Allahabad Central University Administration had registered a second FIR, taking a strict stand on this. This FIR is dated September 16, in which it is said that the gate near the student union building of the university was locked by the university administration in view of security, which was broken by the agitating students. A student today tried to immolate himself by sprinkling petrol on him. The police had caught him.

The university administration had alleged that the students clashed with the guards and created an atmosphere of chaos. Many of the students who are agitating have been expelled by the university and many have been banned from entering the university in view of their activities. An FIR was lodged by naming some such students.
