We have always heard that men live less than women, but according to a new research, this is a myth. Scientists from the University of Southern Denmark have reported in recent research that men are more likely to live than women, especially when they are married or have studied in college.

According to research, in the last 200 years, men have a 25 to 50% chance of living longer. It includes men from all continents and 199 countries.

Several studies assessed

To find out how much men actually live, scientists studied the gender difference at death of the global population over the past two centuries. These statistics suggest that someone from a population with a high mortality rate will live longer than a population with a low mortality rate.

The researchers also studied the Human Mortality Database containing data from 41 countries. Also studied the information of Germany and Britain separately. Apart from this, the World Population Prospects 2019 containing sex-specific data was also examined. It contains information from 1950-54 to 2015-19 over a span of 5 years.

The scientists separated all the data on the basis of level of education and marital status and came to the conclusion.

1-2 out of 4 men live longer than the average woman

According to the results, since 1850 men have been 25 to 50% more likely to live than women. That is, 1-2 out of every 4 men live longer than the average woman. At the same time, in some cases the figure reached more than 50%. It happened in Iceland in 1891, Jordan from 1950 to 1954, Iran from 1950 to 1964, Iraq from 1960 to 1969, Bangladesh before 1985, India, Maldives and Bhutan between 1995 and 2010.

Saves life from marriage and college

According to scientists, married men are 39% more likely to live than women and single men have 37%. Also, men with college degrees have a 43% chance. If you haven’t gone to college, then the chances are only 39%.

Men with college degrees are 43% more likely to live than women.

men still suffer

Scientists say that men still suffer in terms of living. This happens in childhood and in growing up. The reason for this is that men in their 20s to 30 years of age are more prone to road accidents and murders. Apart from this, they smoke more cigarettes and alcohol, due to which their risk of cancer increases after 60 years.
