The 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2021 of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) was held in a virtual manner on Thursday. In this AGM, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani made many big announcements regarding Reliance Retail. Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance Retail has helped 3 million merchant partners in the digital transformation last year. In the next 3 years, 1 crore new grocery partners will be added to Reliance Retail. In the times to come, small businesses and startups will be connected to the data center built with Microsoft.

Reliance Retail to have 10 lakh employees in 3 years

Mukesh Ambani said that despite the Corona epidemic, Reliance Retail has given new jobs to 65 thousand people last year. At present, the total workforce in Reliance Retail is close to 2 lakhs. Mukesh Ambani said that with the growth, the number of employees will be around 10 lakh in the next three years. This means that in the next three years i.e. by 2024, Reliance Retail will give 8 lakh new jobs. Jio is doing a trial run with Facebook to integrate JioMart with WhatsApp.

Reliance Retail opened 1500 new stores last year
Mukesh Ambani said that even during the Corona period, the expansion of Reliance Retail’s stores continued. Last year, Reliance Retail opened around 1500 new stores across the country. Now the total number of Reliance stores across the country has increased to 12,711. Mukesh Ambani said that 1 out of every 8 people in the world shop from Reliance Retail. Last year, Reliance Retail sold 180 million units of apparel and footwear. This is more than the total population of many countries of the world.

Ajio emerges as the leading commerce platform

Reliance Chairman said that last year Reliance Retail’s e-commerce platform Ajio.com (AJIO.COM) has emerged as the leading digital commerce platform. Ajio accounts for more than 25% of the total apparel business of Reliance Retail. He said that last year, 45 crore units of electronics were sold through Reliance Retail. At the same time, the company’s omni-capacity has reached 1300 cities in the country. Last year, 30 lakh units of grocery were sold daily on Jio Mart. Jiomart has a record of 6.5 lakh orders in a day.

Reliance Retail is one of the fastest growing retailers in the world

Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance Retail is continuously acquiring businesses to provide more and more products to the customers and enhance the experience. The company has acquired startups like Netmeds and UrbanLadder in the past year. He said that Reliance Retail is one of the fastest growing retailers in the world. Reliance has set a target to include its retail business among the top-10 retailers in the world. Mukesh Ambani expects 3x growth in the retail business in the next 3 to 5 years.
