Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level committee meeting through video conferencing today to celebrate the 400th birth anniversary (Prakash Purab) of the ninth Guru ‘Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh’ Ji of the Sikh community. PM Modi said to celebrate the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh Ji as a spiritual privilege. During this, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah were also present in the meeting.

Remembering Guru Tegh Bahadur, PM Modi shared many important things related to his life. He said, “In the last four centuries there has not been any period of India, no phase which we can imagine without the influence of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji! As the ninth Guru we all get inspiration from him.”

He further said, “Along with the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, we should also take the entire Guru tradition to the world.”

Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh is the ninth Guru of the Sikh community. ‘Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh’ Ji sacrificed his life to protect religion, human values, ideals and principles in world history. In Sikhism, his sacrifice is remembered with great reverence. Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh was born on Baisakh Krishna Panchami in Amritsar, Punjab.
