President Ram Nath Kovind issued a warrant of appointment for Justice Ramna as CJI

President Ram Nath Kovind today appointed Justice NV Ramana as the next Chief Justice of India. He issued a warrant of appointment for Justice Ramna as CJI. Justice Ramna will take up the post on April 24. He will be employed in the post of CJI for one year, four months. Let us tell you that CJI Bobde is retiring on 23 April.

Who is Justice Ramna

Justice Ramna belongs to the agricultural family of Andhra Pradesh. He was appointed as a permanent judge of the AP High Court in June 2000. Before becoming Supreme Court judge in February 2014, NV Ramana was the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. On the internet restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir by Justice Ramana’s bench, Justice Ramana bench had ruled that the suspension of the Internet should be reviewed immediately. After which the government lifted the ban. Justice Ramna was part of the bench of five judges who said that the CJI office would come under the RTI.

The Supreme Court dismissed Jagan Mohan Reddy’s allegations against Justice NV Ramana. The in-house process has dismissed the allegations made in the letter of the Chief Minister of Andhra on 6 October 2020.
