In 2020-21, the central government paid Rs 4,698.10 crore to the families of insured persons under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY). These payments were made in 2,34,905 death claims under this scheme. The information received under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that this amount is the highest in the last 5 years.
Neemuch’s RTI activist Chandrashekhar Gaur told that the Financial Services Department of the Center has given this information to him under the Right to Information regarding PMJJBY. However, there is no mention in the details provided under the RTI as to what caused the death of the insured.
13 thousand claims rejected
According to the information given by the government, a total of 2,50,351 death claims were received under PMJJBY in 2020-21, out of which 13,100 claims were rejected, while another 2,346 claims were paid.
2 lakh assistance is available on the death of the insured
Term insurance plan is made available under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY). After investing in this, if the person dies due to any disease or accident, then his family gets Rs 2 lakh. This scheme was launched in May 2015.
The person concerned should have a bank account. The policyholder has to deposit Rs 330 annually. This amount will be directly deducted every year from the bank account of the concerned person. Any person in the age group of 18 to 50 years can take advantage of this scheme.
No need for medical examination
There is no need for any medical examination to buy insurance in this. You will start getting this facility from the day the premium amount is deducted from your bank account.
Where can you take advantage of this
This scheme is operated through LIC as well as other private life insurance companies. One can also get information by visiting his bank, many banks have tie-ups with insurance companies.
How to get insurance claim?
