The return of the corona epidemic in the country had a bad effect on the economy during April-May. Because strict restrictions were imposed in major states to prevent the spread of infection. This slowed down the pace of economic activities. However, the concessions have now started showing improvement.

Economic recovery expected from improvement in e-way bill generation
In May, electronic way (e-way) bill generation under GST had come down to a one-year low. However, this figure seems to be improving in June due to the concessions in restrictions from the government. The e-way bill collection in the first 20 days of this month stood at 3.28 crores as against 2.45 crores in the same period in May. That is, there has been a positive growth of 34.4% in bill generation.

The bill generation figure has also improved in June in terms of every day. In the second half of the month, an average of 16.88 lakh bills were generated per day as against 12.22 lakh in May.

E-way bill generation close to Rs 11 lakh crore in 20 days
In value terms, the e-way bill generation in the 20 days of June stood at Rs 10.58 lakh crore as against Rs 8.79 lakh crore in the same period in May. These figures have been released by the government.

The figure of e-way bill generation was getting weaker due to the second wave of corona epidemic. Bill generation stood at 6.72 crores in March, which declined to 5.73 crores in April and 3.95 crores in May. However, due to continuous concessions, the figure is improving in June.

Bill generation in 2020-21 was less than the previous financial year
If we look at the figure of e-way bill generation in the entire financial year 2020-21, then it was 61.68 crores, which was 62.88 crores in 2019-20. Looking at the same figure for the last three years, till March 21, 2021, about 180 crore e-way bills were generated.
