Information Technology and Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Indian scientists, engineers and academicians have obtained 100 patents for 6G technology. Speaking at the PHD Chamber of Commerce’s India Startup Summit, Vaishnav said India is leapfrogging 5G technology with the fastest network implementation in the world.
“Electronics is very complex, but despite the complexity, our scientists, engineers and academicians together have achieved 100 patents in 6G,” he said.
The minister said that the government’s target was to implement 5G network in 200 cities by March 31, 2023. But currently the network has reached 397 cities. He said that India’s economy has become US $ 3,500 billion and it can become the world’s largest economy with changes in governance, infrastructure and companies.
Vaishnav said, “When a country or an economy has to reach this level, thousands of systems have to be changed. This includes change in governance system, logistics system, bank system and own business method. This is the time when everyone should join this journey of change. If we can make this change, there is no such force that can stop India from becoming a $30 trillion economy.
He said that 10 years ago, 99 percent mobile phones were imported whereas today 99 percent are being made in the country. The minister criticized the Congress party alleging laxity towards mobile phone manufacturing in the country in the past.
He said, “I remember that 10 years ago when we used to sit in a discussion, it was said that the reach of mobile is good. People are using it but can’t make it here…now there is a big change and mobile phones are being manufactured here.
The minister also said that India has started exporting telecom products to the US. He said, “In the last seven-eight months, export of radio equipment has started from India and this export is also being done to America.”
Minister of State for Personnel and Public Grievances Jitendra Singh asked companies to encourage women leadership and explore business opportunities with the maritime economy. He said, “In the next 3-4 years, we will have marine startups. We have 7,500 long coastlines, which are longer than any other country.
The minister said that there is no dearth of talent in the country and they need to be given the right direction.
