Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam and West Bengal today. This is his third visit to both the states in a month before the assembly elections. The Prime Minister will dedicate important projects of oil and gas field at Silapathar in Dhemaji, Assam at 11.30 am. The oil and gas projects that the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation in Assam include the Indian Oil’s Indmax (INDMAX) unit at Bongaigaon, the subsidiary tank farm of Oil India Limited at Madhuban in Dibrugarh and the gas compressor station at Habeda village in Tinsukia. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate Dhemaji Engineering College and lay the foundation stone of Sualkuchi Engineering College. Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Petroleum-Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will also be present during this period.

Will address public meeting in Hooghly
Prime Minister Modi will also address a public meeting in Hooghly. This is the second public rally of PM after Haldia. The rally is going to take place at the famous Dunlop Tire Factory Ground. During this time, the Prime Minister will flag off several railway schemes for West Bengal. The most prominent among these is the metro rail service from Baranagar station to Nawapada.
Why rally in Hooghly?
There are many reasons behind the Prime Minister’s rally in Hooghly. The biggest reason is that the BJP performed well in the last Lok Sabha election in Hooghly. BJP’s locket Chatterjee won from Hooghly in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, Modi’s public meeting has been kept here in an attempt to retain this victory.
Mamta’s rally after two days
This field has its own history. This area once belonged to Dunlop, Asia’s largest tire factory, but the Dunlop factory has been closed for years. In such a situation, people here are expecting some announcements from Modi. Two days after the Prime Minister’s rally, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s public meeting will also be held in this ground.
Elections are to be held in five states including West Bengal
Five states, including Assam and West Bengal, are to have assembly elections in April-May this year. In Assam, where the BJP is trying to return to power. At the same time, in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress has been in power for the last 10 years.
