Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has said that former Pakistan pacer Aamir can make a comeback in the national team. The 30-year-old fast bowler had retired due to the ill-treatment meted out to him by the Pakistan Cricket Management. However, since the departure of Rameez Raja, Aamir has received a lot of support from Sethi.
Recently, in a conversation with the media, Sethi said, “If Mohammad Amir takes his retirement, he can play international cricket for Pakistan.” Regarding the match-fixing case against him, Sethi said that I have always been against match-fixing. Fixers should not be spared at all. But those players who have completed their sentence can return.
Aamir was suspended for five years
In 2010, Amir was banned for five years for his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal in England. In the year 2015, Amir returned to international cricket.
According to media reports, he has not yet decided to return to international cricket. The left-arm fast bowler made his international debut in 2009 against England. After this he played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 50 T20 matches for Pakistan. He is currently playing for Sylhet Strikers in the Bangladesh Premier League.
