In terms of performance in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), all the districts of Rajasthan are included in the top 100 districts of the country except two districts. Apart from this, 6 districts of Rajasthan are included in the top 10 districts. 14 districts are in the top 25 and 22 districts are included in the top 50 of the country.
Tonk and Sirohi were left behind
The data received from the Rural Development Department said that only Tonk (109 rank) and Sirohi (156 rank) could not make it to the top 100 districts of the country in terms of performance under PMAY-G. The 6 districts of the state which are included in the top 10 include Dungarpur (second), Nagaur (third), Bharatpur (fifth), Jhunjhunu (sixth), Bikaner (eight) and Udaipur (ninth).
There are total 33 districts in the state
This is the first time that 31 out of 33 districts of the state have been included in the top 100 districts of the country. An official said that this proves that despite the financial crisis, there is steady progress of work at the ground level. Meanwhile, there is a tussle between the state government and the Center over the release of Rs 682.07 crore (for the financial year 2020-21). Despite this, the state treasury has released Rs 150 crore for payment to the beneficiaries under this scheme.
Work is being done on the target of 3.90 lakh houses
Krishankant Pathak, Secretary, Rural Development Department said that we are working on a new target of 3.90 lakh houses (for 2021-22). The names of the beneficiaries to be selected under the scheme will be shortlisted and their names will be selected for whom it is necessary. Not only this, this time a new initiative has been taken to connect every house with Nutri Garden under PMAY-G and it will be linked to MNREGA. Also, information related to the benefits given to PMAY beneficiaries under the Ujjwala scheme and electricity connections will be put on the portal.
687 crores pending
Earlier it was reported that there was a tussle between the state and the Center over the delay in releasing an amount of Rs 682.07 crore (for the financial year 2020-21) pending since December last year. Meanwhile, the second and third installments of 76,764 beneficiaries have not been paid under this scheme. This has resulted in a total liability of Rs 425.27 crore. State Chief Secretary Niranjan Arya had written a letter to the Center in the last month urging it to release Rs 682.07 crore from its share for the construction of approved houses under PMAY-G in the year 2020-21.
