Saurashtra made a strong comeback on the day of the Irani Trophy match. Saurashtra, facing the threat of an innings defeat by the end of the second day, scored 368 for 8 at stumps on the third day to take a 92-run lead over Rest of India.
The rest of India’s hold on the match is still intact, but Saurashtra’s tail batsmen have brought the team back in the match to some extent through excellent fightbacks. Sheldon Jackson (71), Arpit Vasavada (55), Prerak Mankad (72) and captain Jaydev Unadkat (78 not out) scored half-centuries for Saurashtra on Monday.
5 wickets fell in making 87 runs
Saurashtra’s team, which was trailing by 276 runs on the basis of the first innings, was faltered in the second innings as well. Half the team had returned to the pavilion for 87 runs. After this, Sheldon Jackson and the tail batsmen together saved the team from the defeat of the first innings and then also gave the lead. Earlier, Saurashtra’s star batsman Cheteshwar Pujara failed for the second time in the match. He got out after scoring just 1 run. Dharmendra Singh Jadeja could also score only 25 runs.
Prerak scored 72 runs off 83 balls.
117 runs partnership for the 6th wicket
For a time, it seemed that Saurashtra’s defeat in the innings was certain. But, Jackson and Arpit took the score from 87/5 to reach 204 runs. There was a 117-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Jackson and Arpit. Jackson was dismissed for 71 off 117 balls. Arpit scored 55 runs off 127 balls.
144 runs partnership between Prerak and Jaydev for the 8th wicket

The pair of Prerak Mankad and captain Jaydev Unadkat took the score to 359. There was a partnership of 144 runs between the two. Prerak returned to the pavilion after scoring 72 runs off 83 balls. On the other hand, Jaydev Unnakat is unbeaten on 78. Now it remains to be seen how much he can increase the score on the last day.
Kuldeep Sen took 3 wickets
Kuldeep Sen took 3 wickets for the rest of India on the third day. While Saurabh Kumar, Jayant Yadav and Mukesh Kumar took 1-1 wickets. India’s fastest bowler Umran Malik has not been able to take a single wicket in this innings so far. He has so far bowled 16 overs and conceded 59 runs. Umran took three wickets in Saurashtra’s first innings.
