India’s young shooter Manu Bhaker could not reach the final of the women’s 10m air pistol event at the Tokyo Olympics. Now the news is coming that her pistol had malfunctioned during the qualification round. Manu finished 12th in the qualification round with 575 points.
Another Indian shooter Yashwini Deswal finished 13th. Manu had to wait for five minutes due to a fault in the pistol. Manu’s father Ramkishan Bhakar and National Rifle Association officials have also accepted the technical fault in Manu’s pistol.
Manu scored 98 points in the first round
Manu secured 98 points in the first round of qualification. In the second round, his pistol malfunctioned. After this she came out leaving the target and after about 5 minutes her pistol was fixed. He scored 95 in the second round, 94 in the third, 95 in the fourth, 98 in the fifth and 95 in the sixth round. They were 2 points behind from reaching the final.

Hope remains intact in mixed event and 25m air pistol
Of course, Manu missed out on a medal in the 10m air pistol due to a faulty pistol, but she still has her hopes of winning a medal in Tokyo. She has to aim in the women’s 25m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed events. Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu will be partners in the mixed event.
India got a medal in Olympics
The Tokyo Olympics are to be held from 23 July to 8 August. The medal event has started from 24th July. India got its first medal in weightlifting on the first day of the medal event. Mirabai Chanu has won silver medal in 49 kg weight category. Karnam Malleswari won the bronze medal in weightlifting for the country at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
