The picture is of Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus station. People on trains going to UP-Bihar are also ready to travel like this.
- Platform ticket sales stopped at 6 stations due to congestion
- These stations are LTT, Kalyan, Thane, Dadar, Panvel and CSMT.
The migration of migrant laborers has started once again due to fear of lockdown. These people are returning to their homes. There is no place to set foot in trains going from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus station to UP in Mumbai. In general coaches, people are traveling on top of each other. The same situation is there in Pune and Nagpur. These trains can become super spreaders and increase the risk of infection. NewsBust India went to LTT station in Mumbai to know whether people are more afraid of lockdown than Corona …
Senior Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam reached LTT station to convince the passengers after getting information about the crowd.
The LTT station saw more than double the capacity in general coaches of trains. People were not able to stand properly in the coaches. Most had their faces covered with masks or clothes, but social distancing was impossible to follow in these situations. If seats and floor could not be found, then people sat on the roofs with sheets. In the train going to Gorakhpur, people were ready to travel even by hanging at the gate.
Passengers explained the reason for this journey full of dangers
Most people moving to Uttar Pradesh have lost their jobs in Mumbai.
Parvez Alam, who is going to Lucknow, said, ‘Due to the possibility of lockdown, work is not being found. What will we do here so going back. ‘ Rameshwar, who returned to Mumbai from Barbanki (UP) in January this year after the last wave of infection, left for home again. Before leaving told that he got work in a private textile factory for a few days, but 4 days ago the owner of the company got fired from his job. Now there is no choice but to return home. Sarvesh Tripathi, who is going to UP, said – like last time, it is better to go for 30-35 hours standing in a train in this way than going on foot.
UP’s panchayat election is also a reason behind the crowd
If the door did not get a chance, the passenger was seen entering the compartments through the window.
One reason for the sudden increase in long distance trains is also being said to be the panchayat elections in UP. Uttar Pradesh has panchayat elections in four phases from 14 April to 28 April. A large number of people want to go to the village to vote for their candidates. This is the reason that the waiting list of all trains going towards UP Bihar has increased.
Railway appeal – Do not panic with rumors
The workers say that it is better to stand on the train than to go on foot.
Seeing so many crowds, the Railways have appealed, ‘Do not be afraid of rumors circulating about booking tickets in trains. Railways run more special trains during summer holidays. People are appealed not to overcrowd the stations keeping in mind the challenge of the epidemic. Arrive at the station 90 minutes before leaving the train. Only those with tickets are allowed to travel. Take care of the Kovid protocol. ‘
After the lockdown, trains are being run according to the Kovid Guidelines. According to the new rule, one cannot travel without reservation even in the general compartment.
A huge crowd was seen outside the station in Pune as well
A huge crowd is seen outside the Pune railway station.
Pune station has also been witnessing heavy crowd for the last two days. Most of the trains going towards North India are running full. Pune’s PRO Manoj Jhawar said, “We are giving entry in the station only to confirmed ticket holders.” This is the reason for the crowds appearing outside the stations. Some special trains have been started from Pune, but they are also running full.
