Mumbai Police Issues New Circular To Improve Women Safety In The City


Amidst the increasing atrocities on women in Mumbai, a case of molestation of a 7-year-old girl has come to light in the city’s MIDC area on Monday, in which the police have arrested the accused. In view of the ever increasing cases, Mumbai Police is also going to take many steps to reduce such cases.

Amidst the questions arising about women’s safety, a case of molestation of a 7-year-old girl came to light in Mumbai’s MIDC area on Monday, after which the police took immediate action in this matter and arrested the accused living nearby. Many other sections including POCSO have been imposed on the accused.

Mumbai Police’s DCP S Chaitanya said, ‘Police has arrested the accused by registering an FIR in this case. A case has been registered against him under section 354 and POCSO Act. Further investigation is on.

Amidst the cases coming from different places of the state, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday held a meeting with the Home Minister and DGP and talked about taking several steps to bring down such cases. So the Mumbai Police has now announced to take more steps for the safety of women in the city. The Mumbai Police Commissioner has issued a circular and ordered that if any call related to women comes to the control room, immediate action will be taken on it. The police will continuously patrol the deserted and dark places. Talks are on with BMC to install more CCTVs in such places. Police will patrol outside the women’s toilet, if any suspicious is seen, immediately interrogation will be done. A list of accused in cases related to women will be prepared. Police vans will be stationed outside railway stations from 10 pm to 7 am.

Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said, “The government has informed all the police officers that all these things should be properly arranged in their area. If any such case comes to the fore, then the accused should be arrested immediately by taking action and it should be seen how the matter can be heard by going to the court at the earliest.

While many steps are being taken by the administration for women’s safety, in the state, this government has not yet selected the State Women’s Commission, about which many questions are being raised now.
