Australia’s Team India was shocked when middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer did not come for batting on the fourth day of the Ahmedabad Test due to complaints of lower back pain. At the same time, Iyer may be ruled out of the ODI series against Australia from March 17 and Sanju Samson may be included in the ODI team in his place. The first ODI against Australia will be played in Mumbai on Friday.
Iyer complains of lower back pain
Earlier, Shreyas Iyer could not play the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand and the first Test against Australia. In a medical update, the BCCI had said, Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in his lower back after the third day’s play. He has gone for scans and is being monitored by the BCCI medical team.
Samson played the last ODI in November 2022
Samson played the last ODI for Team India in November 2022 on the tour of New Zealand. At the same time, the last T20 International match was played against Sri Lanka in Mumbai in January, where he suffered a leg injury while fielding. Samson is now recovering and ready to return to the field. This is the reason why he can be included in the ODI team against Australia.
India will play 3 ODIs against Australia
Team India has to play 3 ODIs against Australia on 17, 19 and 22 March. The first ODI against Australia will be played in Mumbai, second in Vizag and third in Chennai.
