Five Naxalites were killed in an encounter between police and Naxalites on Sunday in the forests of Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli. An encounter took place in the evening in the Kosami-Kisneli forest of Gadchiroli. This is the operation of the C-60 commandos. Gadchiroli SP Ankit Goyal has confirmed the death of five Naxalites. The intensive campaign in the forest is still going on.
Five Naxalites were killed in an encounter with the police in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district. Gadchiroli’s Superintendent of Police (SP) office said that the encounter took place in the Kosami-Kisneli forest at around four in the evening. The police said in a statement that “the C-60 commandos of the Gadchiroli police were conducting a search operation in the wooded area of Dhanora taluka, when the Naxalites started firing at them.”
The statement said that “Naxals fled from there after the police retaliated”. Later, during search, the bodies of five Naxalites were found there. They are being identified. After the incident, Gadchiroli police has intensified anti-Naxal operations in the forest.
