Senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday that the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government should focus more on preventing incidents like Bhandara hospital fire, rather than on issues like reducing security of public representatives. In this incident, 10 infants died. Fadnavis told reporters that the decision of the state government to cut his security cover will not affect him and he will visit districts like Naxal-affected Gadchiroli without any security cover.
Maharashtra government has reduced the security of Devendra Fadnavis, leader of opposition in the assembly and his family, former Uttar Pradesh governor Ram Naik, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, while withdrawing security for BJP state unit chief Chandrakant Patil Lee. As per the government notification issued on January 8, Fadnavis will now get ‘Y-plus category with escort’ protection instead of ‘Z-plus’ category. At the same time, the security of former Chief Minister’s wife Amrita Fadnavis and daughter Divija has been reduced from ‘Y-Plus with escort’ category to ‘X’ category. The former chief minister said, “Decisions like removing or maintaining the security cordon will not have any effect on us. We are not worried about it. We are people who travel without protection. The current security ring is enough and even if it is withdrawn, I have no problem. ”
In response to another question, Fadnavis said that people are demanding that a case of culpable homicide be registered for the fire in Bhandara’s hospital. Meanwhile, he said that it would be wrong if a person supports Nathuram Godse, the murderer of Mahatma Gandhi. He made this comment about the Hindu Mahasabha opening a study center on Godse in Gwalior city of BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh.
Fadnavis said, “No person in this country can support Nathuram Godse.” Salutation to the father of the father of the nation cannot be accepted in the country. If someone makes such an attempt, it is wrong. ”In response to a question, Fadnavis said that the BJP would support changing the name of Aurangabad city in Maharashtra to Sambhajinagar.
