In her petition, the labor rights activist claimed that she was “targeted and falsely implicated” in the case as she managed to garner huge support for the farmers who were protesting against the three new agricultural laws of the Center.
Kaur is a member of the Labor Rights Organization (MAS). Kaur said that he gathered people to protest in the Kundli of Sonipat district to protest against the new agricultural laws of the Center. The petition alleged that the administration was upset with the mobilization of local laborers in support of the farmers and plans were made to suppress the protest.
The bail plea said that on January 12, the petitioner and members of the MAS traveled to a factory demanding payment of arrears of wages to some laborers. In the petition, the High Court was told that a group formed by the Kundli Industrial Area, a union of industrialists, abused them.
In the meantime, a police team led by the in-charge of Kundli Police Station reached there and dragged the petitioner’s hair and took them with him. The petition said that this agitated the protesters and the situation worsened when the police lathi-charged the protesters who were protesting peacefully. There was a conflict between the two sides, the petitioner tried to calm the situation but it could not happen.
It claimed that the police officers only arrested the petitioner. He was beaten, tortured and suffered many injuries. Officials of Sonepat police also said that on reaching the spot, the police team was attacked with sticks and some policemen were also injured in the incident.
