Hospitals are struggling with a shortage of oxygen beds, ventilators and essential medicines amidst the second wave of corona infection. Patients are not being treated. Under these circumstances, 5 youth of Rajasthan are giving free service to the needy by putting oxygen in their car. On Monday, 4 patients were injected with oxygen in these cars, while 2 cylinders were delivered to their homes.
Chandresh Gheeja (44), resident of Vigyanagar in Kota, has a service center of trains on Arya Samaj Road. Chandresh, along with his 4 friends from Sai Mitra Mandal, Ashish Singh, Bharat Samanani, Ravi Kumar and Ashu Kumar turned 3 cars into a hospital for patients. These cars stand at Sai Chowk, and serve to serve the needy.
Chandresh told that seeing the suffering of the people, we have put our vehicles in the service of the patients. For oxygen setup in the car, we bought a regulator of Rs 1100 for Rs 3500. Oxygen masks also cost 100 rupees instead of 40. Every patient has to apply different oxygen masks. All friends bear the cost of this together.

Chandresh tells that patients who are not getting beds in the hospital. Oxygen is not available. They are being helped here. Oxygen is being applied to the patients according to their need. The patient is kept here until there is no other option. Many times, the patient is being transported to his home or hospital by these vehicles.

Chandresh told that at present, 3 cars have been installed. The number of them will continue to increase when needed. These include a car of his own, a brother’s and an uncle’s car. In these, two cars have been made as ambulances. All the vehicles have gas kits installed. The AC of the car has to be kept till the oxygen of the patient rises. Chandresh told that a cost of 5-7 thousand is being spent daily by combining oxygen cylinders and cars. All these friends are taking these expenses together. Some other people are also helping.
Including oxygen cylinders and cars, the cost of 5 to 7 thousand per day is coming.

Chandresh told that there is a system in the car to deliver oxygen to 3 patients from a cylinder. Keeping a patient on oxygen for two to 3 hours. Right now only 3 cylinders are being arranged with great difficulty. One had to line up at 7 pm to pick up the oxygen cylinder. Oxygen cylinder is available at around one and a half at night. There are so many calls from the needy that the phone has to be closed at night.

Chandresh told that for the last 10-12 days, free oxygen cylinders were being delivered to the patients’ homes. Many patients used to keep oxygen cylinders. There were some places where cylinders had to be mounted on three or four floors. It was taking too much time.

Less patients were being helped. Then the idea changed and arranged for the oxygen to be placed in cars. The familiar factory owner initially helped by giving 4 oxygen cylinders.
