UP Warriors batsman Kiran Navagire could not find a sponsor for her bat in WPL i.e. Women’s Premier. Because of this, Navagire came out to bat by writing the name of former Indian team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on his bat. Navagire played a brilliant half-century innings of 53 runs in 43 balls and contributed significantly to the team’s victory.
Navgire came out to bat by writing Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s name MSD in short form and his jersey number 07 on the bat. He wrote Dhoni’s name on the back side of the bat.

Navagire made his debut for India in September 2022. He played his first T20 International match against England. She was dismissed after scoring 7 runs in her debut.

Talking to Geo Cinema before the start of WPL, Kiran Navgire had said that I started playing cricket only after watching Dhoni. I have followed Dhoni since he won the World Cup for India in 2011. I didn’t know there was such a thing as women’s cricket. I had started playing cricket casually with the village boys. After that I fell in love with this sport.

UP Warriors defeated Gujarat Giants by 3 wickets in a thrilling match of Women’s Premier League on Monday. Batting first, Gujarat scored 169 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, UP chased the target in the last over. UP needed 53 runs off the last 18 balls. The team’s batter Grace Harris hit an aggressive fifty and gave UP the win. He scored an unbeaten 59 off 26 balls. He was awarded the Player of the Match for this performance. Kim Garth took 5 wickets from Gujarat.
