Team India’s left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh will play in the County Championship. He would be seen playing in 5 matches for Kent in June and July. Arshdeep will play against Surrey, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Essex and Nottinghamshire.
The Kent team made the announcement on its official Twitter account. “Kent Cricket is delighted to announce that India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh will be available for the team for five County Championship matches between June and July,” Kent wrote.
Excited to play red-ball cricket in England
Arshdeep said he has heard good things about Kent from current India men’s coach Rahul Dravid. Dravid played for the club in the year 2000. Arshdeep said, I am looking forward to playing red-ball cricket in England and will continue to improve in the first-class game. Rahul Dravid has already told me that this club has a great history.
Paul Downton, Kent’s Director of Cricket, said: “We are delighted to be signing up for an outstanding player like Arshdeep Singh for five matches this summer. He is world class in limited overs cricket and I am sure he will be able to use those skills with the red ball in county cricket.
Arshdeep Singh has played 7 matches in first class cricket so far.
Played 29 international matches so far
Arshdeep, 24, made his T20 debut against England in July last year. So far, he has taken 41 wickets in 26 T20 matches with an economy of 8.39. He made his ODI debut against New Zealand in November. Arshdeep has played three ODIs so far and all three came against New Zealand.
He has played a total of 29 international matches for Team India in limited overs so far, but could not debut in the Test team. In addition, he has taken 25 wickets in seven first-class matches at an average of 23.84. He also took 10 wickets in 14 matches for Punjab Kings in IPL 2022.
