Actress Kangana Ranot and her sister Rangoli Chandel have got relief from the Bombay High Court in the sedition case. The High Court stayed the police action and arrests against both till 25 January. On Monday, the Mumbai Police told the High Court that they have to interrogate Kangana again. The court said that there is no need to inquire till 25 January. On October 17, a case of sedition was registered at the Bandra police station on a court order against both.

A bench of Justices SS Shinde and Manish Pitale heard the petition of Kangana and Sister. The petition sought to dismiss the FIR.

What happened in court
Public Prosecutor Deepak Thackeray told the court that the petitioners had appeared before the police on January 8 from 1 pm to 3 pm, but they left before the inquiry was over. We will call them again. After all, what problem can they have in cooperating?

On this, Justice Pitale said that Runot stayed 2 hours in front of the police, was it not enough? How much time is required by the police for their cooperation. Thackeray said that the police needed 3 more days. Justice Shinde said that the case is registered under 124 (A), so it becomes serious.

3 days ago, Kangana was questioned for two hours in Bandra police station
Kangana arrived with her sister Rangoli Chandel on 8 January to record statements at Bandra Police Station in Mumbai. During this time he was questioned by the police for two hours. Kangana was summoned thrice for questioning, but she did not appear due to her brother’s marriage.

The actress has been accused of splitting the name of a Hindu-Muslim. An FIR was also filed against Kangana in a similar case in Tumkur (Karnataka). He was accused of insulting the farmers. Earlier on 25 November, the Bombay High Court, while hearing a petition by Kangana and her sister Rangoli Chandel, ordered the duo to appear at the Bandra police station on 8 January.

The petitioner advocate Sahil Ashraf Ali Syed had said in an application filed in the Bandra court that Kangana Ranot has been continuously insulting it for the past few months by calling Bollywood a hub of nepotism and favoriteism. She is creating divisions between Hindu and Muslim artists through social media and TV interviews. Sahil has cited posts made on social media in his evidence.
