India has faced defeat in the ongoing Junior World Hockey Cup in Odisha. France beat India 5-4 in the Pool B match. For France, captain Clement Timothy scored a hat-trick, while Mark Benjamin and Corentin Salian scored a goal each. On the other hand, Vice Captain Sanjay Kumar scored a hat-trick for India. Apart from him, Uttam Singh scored a goal.
In this match, Clement Timothy gave France the lead with a goal in the opening minute itself. After this, Mark Benjamin scored the team’s second goal in the 7th minute. Then Uttam Singh scored India’s first goal after 3 minutes. Before the end of the first quarter, Sanjay (15th minute) scored a goal to level the score 2-2.
Timothy again did a great job and scored 7 minutes before half time to give France a 3-2 lead. By half time the score was 3-2 in favor of France. Timothy scored again after half time in the second minute (32nd minute of the match) and made the score 4-2. In the final quarter of the match, Salier Corentin (48th minute) scored a goal to make the score 5-2.

With the score being 5-2 in the 48th minute of the match, it seemed that India would lose badly. But vice-captain Sanjay tried to get the team back.
Sanjay converted a penalty corner in the 57th minute. In the very next minute, a penalty corner was found again and Sanjay converted it into a goal. However, the French players did not make any mistake after this and won the match 5-4.
India have to win both their matches
India will have to win both the remaining matches to reach the quarter-finals. On Thursday, India will take on Canada, followed by Poland.
